Some links I found interesting this week:

Manufacturing Analytics from Siemens

Siemens announced new analytics solution as part of the Mentor Graphic Valor IoT Platform. Siemens bought Mentor almost 2 years ago so it looks like they are starting to integrate the offerings. This is also the first time I’ve looked at Valor that seems to be focused on PCB manufacturing. I can see specialized IoT platforms as being an important market segment.

Open Manufacturing Language

At the same time came across the Open Manufacturing Language. Looks like it was created by Mentor but has decent number of supporters. Not sure how widely adopted it has become?

Industrial IoT Supply Chain

I found this diagram from Alex Glasser of Harbour Research a useful way to view the Industrial IoT supply chain.

Open Source Naming and Branding

Naming and branding in open source communities is always hard. Community passion can often make the conversation heated. Therefore, great to see the new name for Java EE is now Jakara EE and it looks like it was the popular choice for the community.

In the same theme, interesting to see Red Hat start the Open Brand Project to help select a new logo and brand for Red Hat. It will be interesting to watch.
